Helping people grow their business is something that I am quite passionate about.

Nearly 10 years ago, I joined a BNI chapter to grow my website design client base and fell in love with the organization. The system and structure of the organization has helped my business more that I could have imagined. Around 6 years ago I was asked to be part of the BNI Western Mass Director Team as an Ambassador. The rest, as they say, is history.

After a couple years of serving as an Ambassador and then Director Consultant, I was given the opportunity to be the Managing Director for the Western Massachusetts region of BNI.

For those that don't know, BNI is an international organization that helps its members increase their business through a structured, positive word-of-mouth referral system. They teach their members to be expert networkers and educate them on how to ask for the business referrals that will help them grow their business.

This past week, I was fortunate enough to present at the 2015 U.S. National BNI Directors' Conference in Savannah, GA. My presentation was given on Member Day, where BNI members from the hosting region are invited to attend with the rest of the organization that included the Founder, Dr. Ivan Misner, the new CEO Graham Weihmiller as well as National Directors, Executive Directors, Area Director Consultants, Director Consultants and Ambassadors from around the country. Over 350 Directors alone! Once you add in the 300+ members that showed up, it was quite the crowd!

My presentation revolved around using Metcalfe's Law to demonstrate why BNI members would want to remain members as well as work to increase the size of their individial BNI chapters. The simple concept is that the larger a BNI chapter is, the more revenue that can be generated. To quote Verizon, it proves the "power of the network" you belong to. As it gets larger, your referral opportunities grow along with it... often exponentially!

I consider myself quite fortuante to be part of this organization and know, without a doubt, that is has helped grow my website design business. If there is anything I can do to help you be part of BNI, whether it's in Western Massachusetts or not, please contact me and let me know what I can do!
